Funding in the amount of $78,252 for artwork for the Montopolis Recreation and Community Center Project is available in the Parks and Recreation Department's Capital Budget and $11,748 in the Austin Public Health's Capital Budget.

On May 6th, 2019, the Art in Public Places (AIPP) Panel approved the Selection Process Recommendation for the Montopolis Recreation and Community Center AIPP Project Phase II Exterior Sculpture opportunity, naming Agustina Rodriguez as the selected artist and Luis Gutierrez as the alternate artist. (Motion by Polgar, second by Garza; approved 9-0; Fonte and Latouf absent). On May 20th, 2019 Arts Commission approved the Selection Process Recommendation, naming Agustina Rodriguez as the selected artist and Luis Gutierrez as the alternate artist. AIPP, of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department sought to commission a professional visual artist to design, fabricate and install artwork to be located in an exterior area located in the plaza near the front entrance and working in collaboration with project stakeholders and City staff. The total budget available for this project is $90,000.
