Council Committee, Boards and Commission Action:
On May 6th, 2019, the Art in Public Places (AIPP) Panel approved the Selection Process Recommendation for the Montopolis Recreation and Community Center AIPP Project Phase II Exterior Stairwell opportunity, naming Peter Ortiz as the selected artist and Damon Moseley as the alternate artist. (Motion by Polgar, second by Garza; approved 9-0; Fonte and Latouf absent). On May 20th, 2019 Arts Commission approved the Selection Process Recommendation, naming Peter Ortiz as the selected artist and Damon Moseley as the alternate artist. (Motion by Polgar, second by Garza; approved 9-0; Fonte and Latouf absent).
Additional Backup Information:
AIPP, of the Cultural Arts Division, Economic Development Department sought to commission a professional visual artist to design, fabricate and install artwork to be located in an exterior stairwell wall and working in collaboration with project stakeholders and City staff. The total budget available for this project is $70,000.
