Additional Backup Information:

The University of Texas’ School of Architecture established the Kent Butler Memorial Excellence Fund to support a paid summer internship for a selected Community and Regional Planning student. The UT fund provides a partner institute $3,500 toward the summer salary of the intern and the partner institution, which employs the intern, is responsible for a cash match of $3,500 for the remainder of the intern’s salary.

The Watershed Protection Department (WPD) wishes to host and employ the Kent Butler intern for the summer of 2019. The City will provide the $3,500 cash match for the remainder of the intern’s salary and the payroll taxes for a total of approximately $4,050. The City’s $4,050 cash match will be funded from the FY 2018-19 Operating Budget of WPD’s Planning Division.

The Kent Butler intern will work in WPD’s Planning Division for 10 weeks during the summer of 2019. The primary project for this intern will be an in-depth analysis of public engagement strategies as they relate to watershed master planning.
