Fiscal Note
Funding in the amount of $50,000 is available from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. A City funding match is not required; however, the department will demonstrate up to $100,000 of in-kind services via use of existing staff hours and costs for vehicle rental and maintenance. A fiscal note is attached.
Prior Council Action:
On December 13, 2018, Council approved a resolution by a vote of 8-0 authorizing the city manager to apply for up to $50,000 in funding from the Texas Parks and Recreation Department's Community Outdoor Outreach Program for outdoor outreach and programming that includes underserved youth, teens, adults, and seniors at the Camacho Activity Center.

Additional Backup Information:
The Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) Camacho Activity Center provides outdoor outreach and inclusive programs for underserved youth, teens, adults and seniors. The Activity Center utilizes budgeted funds to operate and maintain a large fleet of bicycles, kayaks, and camping and climbing gear. Grant funding was sought, from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), to replace aging and broken equipment and to provide ongoing maintenance.
