Funding in the amount of $299,750 is available in the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Operating Budget of the Austin Police Department. Funding for the remaining contract term is contingent upon available funding in future budgets.

The proposed amendment to increase authorization on the contract will allow the Austin Police Department (APD) to purchase necessary replacement parts and tools required in the performance of a mandated inspection for the AS350 B3 helicopter. Airbus Helicopters Inc. is the only authorized North American source to supply all necessary parts for AS350 B3 aircrafts.
This aircraft is used to assist APD patrol officers with routine traffic operations, on ground foot pursuits, search warrants, and special events. The AS350 B3 helicopter is APD's only aircraft with the ability to aid the Austin Fire Department with water drops. Additionally, the AS350 B3 helicopter is available to respond to incidents 24-hours a day.
