Prior Council Action:
On September 17, 2015, Council authorized the negotiation and execution of a contract with Sickle Cell Marc Thomas Foundation for an initial 12-month term beginning October 1, 2015, and three 12-month extension options, on a 10-0 vote, with Council Member Zimmerman abstaining.

Approval of this item will authorize Austin Public Health to negotiate and execute Amendment No. 10 to the agreement with Sickle Cell Texas Marc Thomas Foundation (SCMTF) for the continued provision of health navigation services for individuals living with or at risk of having sickle cell anemia disease or trait.

Austin Public Health has contracted with SCTMTF since 2003 to serve clients with sickle cell disease or sickle cell trait, as well as targeted at-risk populations. The organization serves as a navigator to help individuals, caregivers, and family members gain access to resources, respite, certified case management, and other support needed to maintain self-sufficiency. By educating those affected, along with at-risk populations, this program provides resources that are essential to the health of families.
