The contract is for a FilmArray 2.0 instrument, a pathogen detection system, and accessories for the Austin Fire Department (AFD). This pathogen detection system includes software and system specific reagents which allows AFD to run biologic sample analysis and to determine a necessary emergency response in circumstances where unspecified contaminants have been disseminated.
AFD requires this critical equipment to detect pathogen-specific nucleic acids collected from samples where the safety of the community is concerned during situations in which life-threatening contaminants have been detected. The tests include respiratory panels, blood culture identification panels, gastrointestinal panels, and meningitis-encephalitis panels.
