The Financial Services Department issued an Invitation for Bids solicitation IFB 5000 CSH1034 for these services. The solicitation was issued on June 24, 2024 and closed on July 29, 2024. Of the three offers received, the recommended contractor submitted the lowest responsive offer. This solicitation was reviewed for subcontracting opportunities in accordance with City Code Chapter 2-9B (Minority-Owned and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Procurement Program). For the services required for this solicitation, there were no subcontracting opportunities therefore, no subcontracting goals were established.

Additional Backup Information:
The contract will provide regularly scheduled onsite maintenance and repairs of fitness equipment at various City-owned buildings. Fitness equipment is used by firefighters and police officers to remain physically fit to perform their job duties and to remain in compliance with Austin Fire Department and Austin Police Department fitness standards. Other City departments use fitness equipment to facilitate the health and wellness of City employees and the public.
The contract replaces a contract expiring October 10, 2024. Requested authorization is based on historical spending and departmental estimates of future needs. The recommended contractor is the current provider for these services.
A delay in contract approval could impact employees’ access to safe and properly functioning equipment, affecting the fitness quality of Austin firefighters, police officers, and the public.
