Additional Backup Information:
Austin Public Health (APH) has been awarded the Retail Flexible Funding Model Grant from the National Environmental Health Association and U.S. Food and Drug Administration. This project will enable work on the Retail Program Standards 1-8, work towards meeting Retail Program Standard 9, and allow APH to be a Mentee for 2024.
Project Summary: APH is working diligently to conform with Retail Program Standards 4 and 6 by adjusting policies, processes, and documentation. APH will implement a risk factor study to allow the exploration and identification of any common foodborne illness risk factor violations within the City’s retail food establishments and strategize interventions to reduce them. APH is requesting to be a Mentee for 2024 to provide for accountability and facilitate long term commitment to the Retail Program Standards by both departments and building in long-term success of our Retail Program Standards program by attending the Self-Assessment and Verification Assessment Workshops and the Association of Food and Drug Officials Conference.
The grant period is from January 8, 2024, through December 31, 2024.
The General Fund will not be required to contribute additional funds beyond those currently budgeted to this grant. When the grant funds expire, the Austin Public Health Department’s need for continued funding will be evaluated and may be denied.
