Journey With AUS is Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's multi-year airport expansion, development and improvement program. The vision of the Journey With AUS program is to meet the current and future needs of our growing region while staying true to our roots and elevating the passenger journey with an authentic Austin and Central Texas experience. The Midfield Taxiway (MFT) Project is one of the first Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP) projects. It is a critical project in that it is an enabling project for the future Concourse B and follow-on AEDP projects.
This contract is for the relocation of a soil stockpile within the footprint of the MFT project. The soil stockpile lies within the alignment of the new midfield taxiways and needed to be moved ahead of MFT construction activities and requires a contractor specializing in soil handling and management. The pile originates from previous onsite construction activities and will be relocated onsite. This work will meet all regulatory requirements and operational needs. This amendment is needed due to additional work required beyond the original scope. This additional work resulted from significant weather delays and additional soil needing to be relocated.
This contract is a key enabling project impacting construction timelines and future development connected to the AEDP and MFT projects. Without the contract Austin Aviation would have experienced construction delays and cost overruns that directly affect budgetary compliance.
