The City’s 2019-2024 Consolidated Plan notes the need for childcare services for low-income families. The Community Development Block Grant CDBG Teen Parent Child Care Program provides parent education and support services for teen parents, and access to early education and childcare for children ages 0 to 5 so that teen parents can attend middle school or high school. The agreement will continue existing Community Development Block Grant Teen Parent Child Care Program services and will assist at least 51 clients.
The term of the agreement will be from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024. The Housing and Planning Department designated Austin Independent School District, d/b/a Austin ISD, as a subrecipient for the CDBG Teen Parent Child Care Program contract for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 because of their decades of experience. The agreement will be administrated by the Austin Public Health Department.
