Prior Council Action:
August 16, 2023 - Council approved Ordinance No. 20230816-08 adopting the City’s Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget, which included an amendment by Council Member Velasquez to add $613,942 to the Parent Support Program at AISD, on an 8-3 vote with Mayor Watson and Council Members Kelly and Pool voting no.
April 7, 2022 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of agreements with 17 social service agencies listed in the Recommendation for Action for community-based social services and capacity building to area youth in an amount not to exceed $6,727,158 for a 15-month term beginning July 1, 2022, with four 12-month extension options each in an amount not to exceed $5,577,331, for a total agreement amount not to exceed $29,036,482 divided among the agencies, on a 9-1 vote with Mayor Adler voted nay and Council Member Harper-Madison absent.

This action will authorize negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 2 with Austin ISD for the Parent Support Program to empower families to become active participants in the education of their children, develop positive relationships with parents and families, and provide service coordination, support, and training to meet the needs of students and families. Parent Support Specialists are provided with monthly professional development sessions to enhance their knowledge, skills, and strategies in assisting families by providing educational, social, and health services.
Amendment No 1 exercised the first extension option in the amount of $1,290,000 for the period of October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024.
The current social services agreement with Austin ISD was awarded as a result of Austin Public Health Department’s Request for Applications 004-Youth Services 2021 AB. Services began on July 1, 2022 for an initial 15-month term ending on September 30, 2023 in the amount of $1,612,500, with four 12-month extension options in the amount of $1,290,000 per extension option, for total agreement amount not to exceed $6,772,500.
