Additional Backup Information:
The contract amendment is intended to maintain the existing electronic citation and crash documentation system used by Austin Police. The electronic citation system automates data entry and citation issuance, enabling near-real-time transfer to Austin Police’s electronic data warehouse. The solution has proven to increase both officer and citizen safety by allowing for quicker citation issuance and a reduced duration of traffic stops. Additionally, electronic citations have increased the accuracy of the information uploaded and transferred to the Municipal Court for use in fine collection and in the event of a trial. The system also provides statistical and state-required reporting.
The amendment is needed to provide the City with sufficient time to complete the replacement contract, which includes procurement, implementation, testing, training, and deployment.
Tyler Technologies Inc is the original equipment manufacturer and is the sole provider and supporter of these proprietary systems. These services include specialized technical assistance as well as hardware, software, and licensing upgrades that no other entity can provide.
