Additional Backup Information:
The Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP), administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and passed through the Public Safety Office of the Office of the Governor, provides funding to enhance state and local capabilities to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other hazards.
The Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) supports regional preparedness efforts in high-threat, high-density urban areas. The City of Austin serves as the core city and fiduciary agent for the Austin Urban Area, coordinating with regional partners across multiple jurisdictions to prioritize and implement investments that address shared risks and capability gaps. UASI funding supports interoperable communications, emergency response coordination, intelligence and information sharing, and other homeland security priorities.
Funding allocations are determined through a collaborative regional planning process and are consistent with federal and state guidance. Projects are selected to align with the National Preparedness Goal and associated core capabilities.
No local funding match is required for these grant programs.
