Additional Backup Information:

The proposed lease agreement with Austin Wildlife Rescue, a Texas non-profit corporation, for approximately 17,424 square feet of vacant City land and a proposed parking lot at 7201 Levander Loop, Austin, Travis County, Texas 78702 is for the wildlife intake center that will serve as the public’s location for dropping off injured, and sick animals, providing a convenient site for community members and other agencies to deliver animals to trained staff who can provide stabilization and proper care.

Austin Wildlife Rescue rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals, and educates the public on coexisting with wildlife. The non-profit receives approximately 10,000 wild animals in need of care each year from the public, Austin Animal Protection, and Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens.

Austin Wildlife Rescue will install a modular building on the site to serve as the intake center and will be responsible for all costs and permits related to its purchase and installation. In addition, they will cover their share of utility expenses, including electricity, water, and wastewater services.

The community benefits that Austin Wildlife Rescue will provide justify the proposed below-market rental rate. Each year, Austin Wildlife Rescue will be required to attain the following performance measures:

Accept a minimum of 8,000 wild animals at the intake center each reporting year.

Release at least 33% of all treated animals each reporting year.

Accept a minimum of 150 different wild species at the intake center each reporting year.
