Additional Backup Information:

The contract provided original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement parts for an Allis-Chalmers pump, specifically an impeller, shaft, and shaft sleeves. These components are critical to the operation of a high-service pump at the Spicewood Springs Pump Station, which conveys treated water from the Davis Water Treatment Plant to the Northwest “A” Pressure Zone. To ensure proper OEM compatibility and performance with the existing equipment, all replacement parts must be OEM.

Austin Water’s Spicewood Springs pump is currently out of service due to a failed, non-repairable impeller. This significantly limits Austin Water’s ability to move high volumes of treated water into the Northwest “A” Zone. The risk is further compounded by the ongoing emergency at the Handcox Water Treatment Plant, where inoperable low-service pumps have already reduced the system's capacity to serve the area. Due to this critical situation, these parts were purchased following an emergency determination. The request is being brought forward to council as soon as possible for ratification.
