Additional Backup Information:
The contracts will provide a reliable supply of tires, tire repair, and tire replacement services for the City’s fleet of automotive vehicles and equipment. The contracts are essential to maintain continuous service, minimize delays and reduce vehicle and equipment downtime. The city currently maintains an inventory of approximately 8,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment.
These contracts will support using a range of tire manufacturers and applications, in supplementing Austin Fleet Mobility Services’ in-house tire operations. It will also enhance responsiveness to City departments by ensuring timely roadside assistance for tire repairs and replacements as needed.
The contracts will replace two existing agreements that are set to expire this year. The requested authorization amount was determined based on historical spending and projected vehicle and equipment acquisitions.
Execution of these two contracts is critical to meeting the ongoing tire needs of vehicles and equipment across all City departments.
