Prior Council Action:

February 9, 2023 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 2 to the interlocal agreement with Travis County for job readiness training and summer employment for youth ages 14 to 21, to add one-time funding in an amount not to exceed $269,480, for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $2,498,210, on an 11-0 vote.

 

October 15, 2020 - Council ratified the interlocal agreement with Travis County to provide funding and services for the Summer Youth Employment Program for an 18-month term beginning April 1, 2020 in an amount not to exceed $742,910, with four 12-month renewal options each in an amount not to exceed $371,455, for a total agreement amount not to exceed $2,228,730, on an 11-0 vote.

 

April 23, 2020 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of an interlocal agreement with Travis County to provide funding and services for the Summer Youth Employment Program for a one-year term beginning October 1, 2020 and five twelve-month renewal options, each in an amount not to exceed $371,455, for a total agreement amount not to exceed $2,228,730, on an 11-0 vote.

Additional Backup Information:

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) provides job readiness training and summer employment for youth ages 14 to 21 in collaboration with public sector employers and community-based organizations. SYEP is operated by Travis County and has the purpose of providing opportunities for youth development through meaningful work experiences that promote economic self-sufficiency, good citizenship, and healthy lifestyles, with a special emphasis on high-risk youth and youth with disabilities. Youth are trained in career exploration and job readiness skills, conflict resolution, personal health and environmental awareness, and other employment-related issues.

 

Amendment No 2 added a one-time funding increase of $269,480.

 

Amendment No 1 added a one-time funding increase of $371,455.

 

The original agreement with Travis County allowed for the provision of services for the Summer Youth Employment Program.
