August 29, 2024 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of an amendment to the agreement with The University of Texas at Austin to provide community-based health prevention and education programs, to add one 12-month extension option for the period ending on September 30, 2025, in an amount not to exceed $117,643, for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $1,109,291, on a 10-0 vote.

Additional Backup Information:
This action will authorize negotiation and execution of Amendment 15 with The University of Texas at Austin, for the Alliance for African American Health in Central Texas program, to build awareness, community, and engagement for chronic disease prevention for African Americans. The program’s goals are to increase awareness of and engagement in existing health-promotion programs, provide support to sustain engagement in healthy lifestyle behaviors, demonstrate impact of our health promotion program through biometric measures and self-assessments, and reduce risk for chronic disease within among high-risk populations. The program’s City Business Plan goal is that clients will achieve healthy outcomes as a result of receiving services through Health Equity Social Service Contracts. This program addresses key community needs identified in Austin Public Health’s Community Health Assessment.
The agreement was renewed from 2016-2026, including Amendments 1 through 11. Amendments 4 and 12 were no-cost amendments to change contract exhibits.
