Funding in the amount of $239,665 is included in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Austin Public Health Department Operating Budget. Funding for the remaining terms is contingent upon available funding in future budgets.
Prior Council Action:
September 30, 2021 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of Amendment No. 8 to the agreement with Child, Inc. to provide funding for childcare education programs, to add two 12-month renewal options, on a 10-1 vote with Council Member Kelly voting no.
March 31, 2016 - Council authorized a 6% annual cost-of-living increase to the 37-month base agreement and each of the three extension options, on an 8-2 vote with Council Members Troxclair and Zimmerman voting no, Mayor Adler absent, and Mayor Pro Tem Tovo recusing herself on the portion related to Creative Action.

Approval of this item authorizes the continuation of an existing social service agreement with Child Inc., which provides direct after school childcare and summer childcare services to families with low-income. All amendments are listed below:
Amendment No 9 exercised the fifth extension option in the amount of $479,330 for the period of October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023
Amendment No 8 exercised the fourth extension option in the amount of $479,330 for the period of October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022
Amendment No 7 exercised the third extension option in the amount of $479,330 for the period of October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.
Amendment No 6 exercised the second extension option in the amount of $479,330 for the period of October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.
Amendment No 5 exercised the first extension option in the amount of $479,330 for the period of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.
Amendment No 4 added $11,691 to the 37-month base agreement and three remaining renewal options, for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $2,842,084.
Amendment No 3 added $21,028 to the 37-month base agreement and three remaining renewal options, for a revised total agreement amount not to exceed $2,749,237.
Amendment No 2 was a no cost amendment that changed Child Inc.’s exhibit documents.
Amendment No 1 added $77,625 to the 37-month base agreement with a 6% cost-of-living increase to the agreement, approved by Council for Fiscal Year 2015-2016.
The City executed an agreement with Child Inc. in 2015 for an initial contract amount of $2,587,500 for a 37-month term.
