Additional Backup Information:

This project is for a 10-year temporary pipeline easement and temporary working space easement for Texas Gas Service (TGS) to construct a 6-inch pipeline across approximately 433 linear feet of Water Quality Protection Lands to provide adequate gas supply to homes and businesses in southwest Austin. The effort to reinforce TGS's system in this area has been underway since 2017 and TGS will complete all phases of this work within the next several years. When the project is complete, TGS will no longer require the easement and associated pipeline across these lands. TGS considered several options before requesting this easement. TGS’s proposed work is subject to Land Use Review through the City’s General Permit process, and TGS will follow all environmental requirements included in the permit. The two times that TGS laid an emergency, temporary, and above-ground pipeline, the TGS staff worked with the City staff to ensure that all rules and regulations were met and the land was protected. TGS has pledged to continue to work with staff to protect the sensitive land and has agreed to follow all instructions and directives. The general location of the property is between Red Mesa Hollow and State Highway 45, Austin, Texas 78739.

Texas Gas Service has made an offer to purchase the temporary pipeline easement and temporary working space easement on the subject property at an appraised value of $4,981.  The Financial Services Department has reviewed the appraisal provided by Texas Gas Service and determined that its value conclusion is reasonably supported.
