This project is for the Austin Energy Circuit 961 Induction Reduction Project, intended to mitigate an induced voltage by the Austin Energy Circuit 961 transmission line on the Capital Metro Red Line rail. This project will take the necessary steps to reduce the touch voltage below a 25 volts AC threshold. The voltage reduction will be achieved by installing an aboveground counterpoise wire on the transmission circuit. The general route of the project begins at the Jollyville Substation and ends at the Ashton Woods Substation.

 

The City has attempted to purchase the needed property at 9825 Spectrum Drive, Building. 4, Austin, Texas 78717. The City and property owner have been unable to agree on the value of the needed acquisition. The Law Department is requesting authorization to file an action in eminent domain on behalf of the City, and to authorize the City to pay for the property interest in an amount determined by the appraisal, updated appraisal(s), a Special Commissioners’ award, negotiated settlement, or judgment.
