This contract will provide continuous cybersecurity protection, real-time threat detection, and around-the-clock expert monitoring to safeguard critical systems and reduce operational risk. Endpoint detection and response (EDR) protects against hackers, malware, and other online threats. For public safety operations, it ensures that mission-critical systems used by Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) remain secure, reliable, and available at all times. By rapidly detecting and stopping cyberattacks, the EDR helps safeguard sensitive data, maintain regulatory compliance, and protect the technology that first responders rely on to keep the community safe.
The contract is replacing an existing contract. The proposed contractor is the City’s current provider for these services. The budget for this request was developed based on current usage, with an uplift to accommodate future growth and expanded security needs. This approach ensures continuity of service, adequate coverage for existing users, and flexibility to support anticipated organizational expansion.
The Texas Department of Information Resources is cooperative purchasing association recognized under Texas procurement statutes. Cooperative associations, themselves or using a lead government, competitively solicit and award contracts that are eligible for use by other qualified state and local governments. Due to their substantial volumes, larger than any one government could achieve independently, cooperative contracts routinely include superior terms, conditions, and pricing. Use of cooperative contracts also results in lower administrative costs and time savings.
A delay in contract approval could impact the City’s ability to prevent attacks to sensitive Police, Fire, and EMS data and potentially delaying emergency response.
