Additional Backup Information:
Since the approval of this contract, demand at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has grown significantly. In response, key components of the Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP), including Concourse B and the Arrivals and Departures Hall, have increased in size, scope, and complexity to meet rising passenger demand, support airline operational needs, and accommodate the airport’s continued growth.
Because airport construction takes place in a complex, secure, and highly regulated environment, the airport requires experienced airport construction and program management professionals to support the efficient and successful delivery of its capital program. On July 28, 2022, Council approved a contract for a Program Management and Support Consultant team to assist airport staff by providing specialized augmented staff capacity. The Program Management and Support Consultant supports the design and construction of airport facilities by providing experienced airport project managers, design managers, inspectors, and construction managers.
Construction activity under the AEDP affects all areas of the airport campus, including airside, landside, terminal, utility, and related infrastructure projects. This team structure allows the airport to efficiently access the specialized expertise, technical support, and program coordination necessary to deliver a large-scale, multi-phase airport expansion program while maintaining ongoing airport operations.
Given the wide range of project scopes, the number of concurrent projects, and the operational complexity of working in an active airport environment, this level of specialized support is critical to the success of the program.
This project is located within zip code 78719 (District 2).
