Additional Backup Information:
The contract provides professional de-installation and storage of City-owned art and artifacts at the Ney Museum; George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural, and Genealogy Center; Dougherty Arts Center; and the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center during building renovations. The art and artifacts will be moved off-site and will require a longer storage period than originally projected. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Department has custody of artifactual material that was recovered during archaeological excavations of the Old Bakery Emporium. These artifacts are to be curated and may also need storage at the Vault Fine Arts Services, LLC.
A delay in contract approval could impact the City’s ability to perform needed renovation work at specific sites, as well as properly store various archaeological remains in the department’s possession.
