The amendment is for the continued and expanded provision of data cloud services and related equipment. The City Urban Trails Program currently relies on 30 counters, provided and maintained by Eco-Counter Inc., to gather bike and pedestrian count data. Recently, the City and a coalition of regional partners secured a Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) from the Environmental Protection Agency. This grant includes funding for the expansion of the regional bike and pedestrian counter network through 2029. A portion of the grant will be used for equipment and supplies, which will be covered under an amendment to the City’s existing contract with Eco-Counter Inc.
To successfully implement the CPRG grant, the City needs to expand its contract capacity with Eco-Counter to cover the increased capital and subscription costs associated with the grant-funded network expansion. This contract amendment will result in approximately 50 more counters in the Greater Austin area. These costs will be funded by the CPRG.
If contract authority is not increased, the City will not be able to meet the CPRG requirements.
