Additional Backup Information:
The Austin Public Library Capital Improvement Program consists of rehabilitation projects identified as necessary to meet current service demands. The rehabilitation projects are in direct response to the community needs placed on existing physical assets and guidepost established by Council’s Strategic Direction 2023.
Council’s initial authorization provided design, construction, and warranty phase services to rehabilitate the following libraries:
• Old Quarry Branch
• Little Walnut Creek Branch
• Menchaca Branch
• Willie Mae Kirk Branch
• St. John Branch
During the preliminary phase the consultant reviewed existing conditions, identified required American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and code-related improvements, and additional rehabilitation required to meet the needs and standards of the Austin Public Library and the community it serves.
This amendment will authorize design consultant services for the full rehabilitation design, including ADA-related improvements, code required improvements, new LED lighting and controls, card readers for access control, HVAC replacement, and roof repair work.
