Additional Backup Information:
This contract will provide valve assessment services to perform physical condition assessments of Austin Water valves which are used to completely or partially restrict the flow of water through pipes. The assessment will determine what specific rehabilitation repairs are needed to bring each valve to a fully operable state or replacement. The assessment and minor repairs of valves will include locating, accessing, marking, and exercising each valve, cleaning out the valve box or vault, global positioning system mapping, reporting, and minor valve repairs, enabling service crews to perform repairs on valves to avoid water loss.
A delay in contract approval could impact the ability of the water distribution system to operate properly, creating a higher risk of potable water loss and property damage.
