Additional Backup Information:
This contract will provide subscription services, maintenance and support for the Ivanti suite of products and services. Ivanti delivers the security and patch-management tools Austin Energy utilizes to meet requirements of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. It gives Austin Energy a centralized, automated way to identify, assess, and deploy validated patches in critical environments, as required by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. This is essential because it provides reliable patch intelligence and automation that Austin Energy cannot replicate manually. Without it, staff must spend significant time cross-checking vendor and regulatory information to verify patch applicability and cybersecurity impact. Austin Technology Services has approved Austin Energy’s use of Ivanti. The requested authorization amounts are based on historical spend and estimated growth over the next four years.
The Texas Department of Information Resources is a cooperative purchasing association recognized under Texas procurement statutes. Cooperative associations, themselves or using a lead government, competitively solicit and award contracts that are eligible for use by other qualified state and local governments. Due to their substantial volumes, larger than any one government could achieve independently, cooperative contracts routinely include superior terms, conditions, and pricing. Use of cooperative contracts also results in lower administrative costs and time savings.
Without these solutions, Austin Energy would revert to manual and potentially error-prone patching activities including manual patch assessments and deployment.
