This contract will provide surface aggregate utilized in seal coat resurfacing. The seal coat resurfacing process consists of a thin layer of liquid asphalt covered by a layer of aggregate and is one of the most cost-effective preventative maintenance treatments for streets. The treatment intended preserves the roadway by sealing cracks and providing a new water-resistant wearing surface prolonging the service life of the roadway and preventing future street surface deterioration and pothole formations.
The contract replaces a contract expiring October 26, 2027. Due to the low remaining authority, the existing contract will be replaced before its expiration date. The requested authorization is based on historical spending and departmental estimates of future needs. The recommended contractor is the current provider of these goods.
A delay in contract approval could impact the surface quality and maintenance of City streets.
