The goal of the USCRI Refugee Health Grant is to provide health screening, assessment, referral services, and follow-up for refugees, Amerasians, Cuban/Haitian Entrants, asylees, and U. S. The Federal Fiscal Year 2023-2024 grant budget includes one additional grant-funded Nurse Practitioner FTE position, which brings total grant staff from 12 to 13 FTE’s.
The Federal Fiscal Year 2023-2024 grant award was increased by the grantor to $3,186,536 from the Federal Fiscal Year 2022-2023 grant amount of $2,863,085.
Current City Council approval authorizes acceptance of up to $3,200,000 in USCRI grant funds, and the Federal Fiscal Year 2023-2024 grant award requires authorization for one additional FTE position to accept the Federal Fiscal Year 2023-2024 grant award in the amount of $3,186,536.
The General Fund will not be required to contribute additional funds beyond those currently budgeted to this grant or to the funding of this position. When the grant funds expire, the Austin Public Health Department’s need for this position will be evaluated and the position may be eliminated.
