Additional Backup Information:

This contract will provide early intervention services to sworn personnel and their families experiencing an injury. The services include around the clock early injury detection and expedited quality care to reduce recovery time of injured workers and decrease the risk of injuries overall. The contractor provides medical case management and support and will collaborate with City departments, physicians, workers compensation personnel, and the injured workers to ensure medical authorizations and treatment plans are implemented quickly and effectively.

The contract also allows first responders and their families access to an orthopedic specialist within hours by expediting authorizations, appointments, diagnoses, and care. The contractor works with hand-selected providers licensed in orthopedic or sports medicine, the most common injuries for first responders. The contractor has a proprietary early detection service that leverages a 3D movement assessment to identify orthopedic risk factors and automatically assigns a tailored strength and conditioning programming to reduce the risk of catastrophic injuries.

This is a new contract. Authorization amounts were determined based on the number of sworn members with the City.

This contract supports the City’s goals of expediting care to injured sworn employees and avoid high vacancy and overtime rates among public safety personnel. If a contract is not secured, the City will be unable to implement a valuable health and wellness solution for sworn personnel and their families.
