The contract will provide the necessary services to grow approximately 1,500 to 2,500 trees for delivery and installation, as well as provide extended tree establishment services following installation of trees under this contract or by others under separate contracts.
These trees are intended to protect and shade pedestrians and bicyclists traveling along major transit corridors in Austin, while also providing enhanced spaces and landscapes for the larger community’s benefit. These trees are essential for the Corridor Mobility Program (CMP) to meet the strategic outcomes mandated in the program’s Contract with Voters. The CMP is the development, design, and construction of improvements along key Austin corridors (50 miles of roadway) that enhance mobility, safety, and connectivity for all users. As part of the 2016 Mobility Bond, Austin City Council has a Contract with Voters to balance increased transportation safety and mobility with core values like the continued development of affordable housing and support for local businesses.
An evaluation team with expertise in this area evaluated the offers and scored Heritage Tree Care LLC as the best to provide these services based on cost proposal, service-disabled veteran business enterprise, local preference, business organization, concept and solution proposed, project management structure, prior experience, and personnel.
This is a new contract. The requested authorization amount for this contract was determined using departmental estimates to provide a multi-term contract to provide growing 1,500 to 2,500 trees for delivery and installation, as well as provide extended tree establishment services following installation.
If the contract is not secured, the CMP cannot ensure that the necessary trees will be available at the required quantity, quality, size, and price.
