Additional Backup Information:

The 7th Street and Springdale Road Intersection Improvements project was identified and developed with safety, operations, and connectivity in mind for all modes of transportation. This project is designed to reduce crashes across all transportation modes, increase safety, and improve mobility and accessibility for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders. The planned improvements include the addition of raised medians for access management, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle facilities, signal infrastructure upgrades, intersection reconfiguration, and associated signing, striping, and paving.

Due to multiple unforeseen conditions, an increase from 10% to 25% contingency funding is requested to allow for the expeditious processing of future change orders to cover construction costs. The project started in June 2026 and is currently approaching the contingency limit due to the need for temporary traffic signals. The permanent traffic signals were expected to be used for traffic control, but there is a long wait time to receive new traffic signal poles from manufacturers. By authorizing the additional contingency funding, Council is authorizing any change orders within the contingency amount.

This project is located within zip code 78702 (District 3).
