Prior Council Action:
August 27, 2026 - Council authorized acceptance and appropriation of $30,393,091 in Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Surface Transportation Block Grant and Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside project awards and confirmed the City's commitment to provide the required local matching funds on a 11-0 vote.
January 22, 2026 - Council approved Resolution No. 20260122-043 authorizing the submittal of potential transportation projects as candidates for the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization 2028-2031 Surface Transportation Block Grant, Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside, and Carbon Reduction Program Call for Projects on an 11-0 vote.
June 6, 2019 - Council authorized negotiation and execution of an interlocal agreement with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) for development of the Bergstrom Spur Corridor Planning Study, in an amount not to exceed $70,000, on a 10-0 vote with Council Member Harper-Madison absent.

Austin Transportation and Public Works submitted successful applications to the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) 2028-2031 Call for Projects. The CAMPO Transportation Policy Board awarded funding for the projects on June 8, 2026.
This interlocal agreement establishes the responsibilities of CAMPO and the City for development of the West Anderson Lane Planning Study, Industrial Oaks Boulevard Planning Study, North Lamar Boulevard Planning Study, Oltorf Street Planning Study, and Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Plan Refresh.
Under the agreement, CAMPO will lead the studies and manage the consultant contract, including procurement, contract execution, review and approval of deliverables, payment of invoices, and contract closeout. The City will participate in consultant selection and work with CAMPO throughout development of the studies.
The total cost of the five studies is $3,358,714. CAMPO will contribute an amount not to exceed $2,686,973, or 80 percent, and the City will contribute $671,743, or 20 percent, as the required local match. The City will remit its local share to CAMPO within 30 days of the effective date of the agreement.
The corridor studies will evaluate multimodal mobility, safety, connectivity, and other transportation needs and develop recommendations that can advance into future project development. The Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Plan Refresh will update the City's 2019 plan to identify infrastructure needs and opportunities to improve walking and bicycling safety and accessibility near schools. A list of schools to be studied is provided as Attachment C.
Council authorization of the interlocal agreement will allow the City to execute the agreement by CAMPO's September 30, 2026, deadline and allow CAMPO to proceed with procurement and development of the five studies.
