The Financial Services Department issued an Invitation for Bids solicitation IFB 6100 CLMC1072 for these services. The solicitation was issued on February 3, 2025, and closed on March 6, 2025. Of the four bids received, the recommended contractor submitted the lowest responsive bid. Additional Backup Information:
The Austin Police Department Mounted Patrol Facility was purchased in 2020 by the City, and houses seven structures on 65 Acres. The existing property does not have proper drainage for the site and as such the asphalt drives have deteriorated creating harmful conditions to the horses housed at this location. Additionally, ponding in the paddocks from improper drainage is creating conditions harmful to the horses’ health and well-being.
The Mounted Patrol Site Improvement Project will include drainage improvements eliminating the current ponding that occurs in the paddocks where the horses feed and graze and replacement of the deteriorated asphalt drives to reduce dust at the site and provide a smooth surface for horses and staff as they move around the site.
Due to the potential of encountering unexpected conditions, a 10% contingency in funding has been included to allow for the expeditious processing of any change orders to cover any unforeseen construction costs associated with the project. By authorizing the additional contingency funding, Council is authorizing any change orders within the contingency amount.
There be no impact to the public as all work will be done on City property that is not open to the public.
If a contract is not approved, site conditions would continue to deteriorate and could lead to health and safety issues for the horses and staff.
The contract allows 120 calendar days for completion of this project.
