This ratification is for the emergency replacement of four Continuous Emissions Monitoring System sampling lines at Austin Energy’s Sand Hill Energy Center. These sampling lines are critical for emissions monitoring compliance and staff discovered damage to the lines during commissioning of the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System upgrade at Sand Hill Energy Center. The contractor applied temporary repairs but strongly recommended full replacement. Shortly thereafter, one of the lines failed, causing an outage. Subsequently, all four lines were then replaced to avoid additional failures.
Given the urgent need and operational risk, Austin Energy proceeded with the emergency repair work prior to obtaining Council approval to ensure continuity of operations and regulatory compliance.
