Additional Backup Information:

The Transportation and Public Works Department (TPW) is implementing critical safety and mobility improvements at the Ease Seventh Street and Shady Lane intersection. TPW has identified this location as a high-crash intersection from the 2020 Mobility Bond priority list. Staff has engaged with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) North Travis Area Office to review the design concepts for this location because TxDOT has jurisdiction over portions of East Seventh Street. An executed LOSA is needed for the project location to secure approval from TxDOT for the proposed improvements. The scope of work for the project is provided below.

East Seventh Street and Shady Lane improvements include the addition of raised medians for access management, enhanced pedestrian and bicycle facilities, additional left turn storage bays, signal phasing changes, intersection reconfiguration, associated signage, striping, and paving. This project is currently in design, with construction anticipated in Winter 2025.

This project is funded using the City of Austin 2020 Mobility Bond and 2022 Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant funds. This funding will enable the implementation of these needed traffic controls to improve safety and mobility for all road users.

This project is located within zip code 78702.
