Additional Backup Information:

Contract amendments with 25 technology staffing firms for one additional year and new 1-year contracts with four additional contractors will provide Austin Energy with the continued expertise to augment its permanent workforce. Functions of technology staff through these contracts include project managers to support critical Austin Energy projects through the technology planning and implementation phases, technical training, and technology consulting. These services are needed to allow Austin Energy to bring in targeted expertise.

Austin Energy’s technology staffing model consists of permanent City staff and temporary contractor staff. Temporary contractor staff are employees of the staffing firms who work under the direction of Austin Energy. This allows Austin Energy to maintain a stable workforce with the flexibility to adapt to changing needs. The additional year will allow Austin Energy’s temporary technology staffing contracts to expire at the same time as the citywide contracts for these services, after which time, a consolidated request will be made to Council on behalf of all City departments.
