Additional Backup Information:

Developed by AIPP of Austin Arts, Culture, Music, and Entertainment (AACME) and Austin Financial Services (AFS), this project sought to commission a Texas-based professional visual artist to design, fabricate, and install an artwork for the Northeast Service Center Garage Façade Art in Public Places project. The goal of the project is to commission establishedTexas-based artists and/or artist teams to design artwork that integrates with thephysicalsiteat 8301 Johnny Morris Road, in collaboration with City staff and community stakeholders.

On November 3, 2025, an invitational art call was approved by the AIPP Panel. AIPP staff requested nominations for established Texas-based artists from the AIPP Panel, Austin Arts Commission, UT Landmarks, and surrounding municipal public art programs. Ten artists/artist teams were eligible for consideration. On December 17, 2025, an artist selection panel met to review ten artists/artist teams and identified three finalists for interviews. Finalists were asked to create a short presentation to showcase their artistic practice and why they would be a good fit for the project. On January 14, 2026, the artist selection panel met to interview the three finalists and determined one recommended artist team - Bridge Projects (Stuart Allen and Cade Bradshaw) - recommended alternate artist team - Legge Lewis Legge LLC - and recommended a second alternate artist - George Schroeder - for the $1,800,000 commission.
