Funding for the remaining contract term is contingent upon available funding in future budgets.

This contract provides lawn and fuels mitigation equipment and maintenance for multiple departments, including Austin Fire, Austin Parks and Recreation, and Austin Transportation and Public Works. The contract includes the purchase, repair, and maintenance of various equipment and accessories used by arborists, firefighters, and fuels mitigation crews, including chain saws, blades, power cutter saws, and generators. Fuels mitigation crews are specialized wildland firefighting and vegetation management teams that proactively reduce hazardous fire fuels like brush, small trees, and dead vegetation, operating power tools and heavy machinery to create fire buffers in the wildland-urban interface and suppress active wildfires if needed.
The contract was initially executed to support Austin Fire. Additional contract authority is needed to accommodate the needs of additional City departments.
BuyBoard is a cooperative purchasing association recognized under Texas procurement statutes. Cooperative associations, themselves or using a lead government, competitively solicit and award contracts that are eligible for use by other qualified state and local governments. Due to their substantial volumes, larger than any one government could achieve independently, cooperative contracts routinely include superior terms, conditions, and pricing. Use of cooperative contracts also results in lower administrative costs and time savings.
