Additional Backup Information:

The term of this agreement is from October 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026.  The parties are negotiating this agreement to replace a prior expiring agreement that provided dual enrollment opportunities in Austin Community College (ACC) courses for Austin Fire Department (AFD) cadets.

This Agreement continues a longstanding relationship between ACC and AFD for ACC to assist AFD with development and implementation of a training program that provides fire cadets with opportunities to pursue higher education, State of Texas certification class, and receive college credit for completed instruction.  This new Agreement will also provide opportunities for incumbent AFD personnel to earn college credits for courses that are consistent with advanced certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).

AFD shall pay the salaries, benefits and payroll taxes of AFD-provided instructors designated and serving as adjunct faculty under this Agreement. Courses shall be taught at AFD training facilities.

AFD shall be responsible for classroom costs associated with the instruction of the courses.

AFD shall be responsible for all costs associated with the administration of the TCFP testing.

Among other things, ACC will not charge any fee to enroll AFD employees in Fire Protection Technology Continuing Education courses.  ACC will also reimburse the City for AFD costs incurred through this Agreement.  The amount reimbursed for this Agreement will be the greater of $75,000 or 20 percent of the reimbursement ACC receives from the State of Texas for awarding degrees, certificates, and other credentials under this Agreement.
