Casa Marianella is an Austin-based nonprofit that has been operating since 1986 and offers shelter and support services to displaced immigrants. Casa Marianella is the only shelter in Austin dedicated to immigrants. Support services include case management, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, food, clothing and toiletries, access to physical and mental healthcare, transportation, translation, education, and referrals to other nonprofit, community, and government agencies.
Approval of this item will authorize Amendment No. 10 to add $500,000 and extend the Casa Marianella Shelter Program agreement with Casa Marianella through September 30, 2025, to provide emergency and transitional shelter to immigrants experiencing homelessness. Over the last five years Casa Marianella helped 2,044 unduplicated clients. If authorization of Amendment No. 10 is not approved, then it will limit the provision of emergency and transitional shelter services to the immigrant population in Austin.
Amendment No. 9 exercised the sixth extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024.
Amendment No. 8 exercised the fifth extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023.
Amendment No. 7 exercised the fourth extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.
Amendment No. 6 exercised the third extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.
Amendment No. 5 exercised the second extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2019 to September 30, 2020.
Amendment No. 4 exercised the first extension option in the amount of $201,668 for the period of October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.
