Austin Financial Services issued an Invitation for Bids solicitation IFB 6200 TJP1019 for these goods. The solicitation was published on July 21, 2025, and closed on August 19, 2025. Of the seven offers received, the bids submitted by the recommended contractor were the lowest responsive bids received. This contract is for the purchase of channelizer posts and barricades for Austin Transportation and Public Works (ATPW). Channelizer posts are vertical delineation devices that are installed on roads open to public travel. The function of channelizer posts is to provide a visual and physical barrier in public roadways. The barricades are a temporary traffic control method used during installation and maintenance of signs and markings assets, as well as to assist in road closures, special events, and emergency response. ATPW is responsible for maintaining 30,695 channelizer posts throughout the City of Austin to ensure safety.
This contract will replace the current contract that will expire on March 24, 2026. The requested authorization amount is based on Austin Transportation and Public Works’ projected workload over the next several years. The recommended contractor is one of the current providers of these goods.
A delay in contract approval could impact the City’s ability to install and maintain signs and marking assets in a timely manner.
