Additional Backup Information:
Art in Public Places (AIPP) of the Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment and Austin Financial Services sought to commission a Texas-based professional visual artist to design, fabricate, and install artwork for the Northeast Service Center Suspended 3D Artwork AIPP project. The goal of the project is to commission Texas-based artists and/or artist teams who, in collaboration with City staff and community stakeholders, design artwork that integrates with the physical site at 8301 Johnny Morris Road, specifically, the administrative building on the north campus.
On March 2, 2026, an art call was approved by the AIPP Panel. Subsequently, the art call was open to Texas-based artists to submit applications between June 22 through August 3, 2026.
An artist selection panel independently reviewed and scored 50 applications. On September 23, 2026, the artist selection panel convened to review the combined average scores and identify one recommended artist and one alternate. After a robust discussion, the artist selection panel recommended Digital Artist (Carlyn Ray) and FYOOG as the alternate artist for the $300,000 commission.
