Additional Backup Information:
The Zilker Metro Barton Springs Bathhouse Rehabilitation project will improve and upgrade the historic bathhouse, which was built in 1947, to provide a renovated structure that will meet the needs of the City of Austin and bathhouse users. The building has deteriorated since its original construction, and programmatic and use changes have occurred in parts of the building over time. The Bathhouse Rehabilitation project addresses deteriorated building materials and systems, spacing, program and operator use issues, and brings accessibility, building code and life safety issues up to current code.
In 2019, an amendment was submitted for additional authorization of construction administration services that were not encompassed in the original contract. Additionally, it addressed key components such as roof replacement and the redesign of the exhibit space. This amendment is for the additional design services for exhibit lighting and glazed brick revisions, as well as the redesign of the admission transaction desk.
If authorization is not given to execute an amendment to this agreement the design team may be unable to continue providing the construction administration oversight and closeout services needed. Additionally, necessary enhancements to the Bathhouse will be delayed.
