Council Committee, Boards and Commission Action:

April 8, 2026 - Recommended by the Airport Advisory Commission on a 9-0 vote.

Additional Backup Information:

The contract will provide pest control services, which are essential for maintaining the continuous operational integrity and public safety of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport facilities. The contractor will implement an Integrated Pest Management program as a strategy for the control of pests, which is a balanced, tactical approach to pest control, providing pest prevention practices rather than go directly to using pesticides or trap devices such as glue boards. It involves anticipating pest outbreaks, preventing potential damage and careful limited use of chemical and biological pesticides. The contractor will prevent and eliminate pests inside the airport terminal and other airport facilities to minimize potential disruptions to business.

The proposed contract will replace a contract which expires July 4, 2026. The recommended contractor is not the current provider of these services. The requested authorization estimates were determined based on historical, current, and projected spending data.

If a contract is not approved, Austin Aviation will not be able to ensure there is a reliable source for pest control services and ensure that facilities are maintained according to the Integrated Pest Management program and ensure that health regulations are maintained for airport terminal operations.
