Prior Council Action:
May 2, 2024 - Council approved Ordinance No. 20240502-090 to submit an application for funding for the Network Threat Management proposal covering the year 2025.

The State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program is administered by the Office of the Governor’s Public Safety Office (PSO), with funding from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. A proposal titled Network Threat Management was submitted to and approved by the PSO. This is the second year of the program, covering the period January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, and the proposal is to continue fortifying Citywide network infrastructure via implementing robust Network Detection and Response capabilities. Uses for the continuation funding of this proposal will include cloud log processing, support and equipment.
This resolution will provide the authority required by the PSO for the City to accept and spend $287,544 in grant funding. A City match of $71,886 is required and is available in Austin Technology Services’ current Operating Budget.
The grantor requires a resolution approved by the governing body that addresses items 1-6 below:
1. Authorization by the governing body for the submission of the application to PSO that clearly identifies the name of the project for which funding is requested;
2. A commitment to provide all applicable matching funds;
3. A designation of the name and/or title of an authorized official who is given the authority to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate a grant (Note: If a name is provided, the applicant must update the resolution should the official change during the grant period);
4. A designation of the name and/or title of a financial officer who is given the power to submit financial and/or programmatic reports or alter a grant on behalf of the applicant; and
5. A written assurance that, in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, the governing body will return all funds to PSO.
