Multiple cooperative purchase programs were reviewed for these goods and services. The Financial Services Department has determined that this contractor best meets the needs of Austin Technology Services to provide these services required for the City.

MBE/WBE:

Cooperative Agreement contracts are exempt from the City Code Chapter 2-9B (Minority-Owned and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Procurement Program); therefore, no subcontracting goals were established.

Additional Backup Information:

The contract will provide licenses, maintenance, and support services for the Pure Storage Evergreen One data storage platform which provides robust, secure, high-performance storage systems to support critical operations, including hosting criminal justice data.

The current storage platform is nearing end-of-life and poses increasing risks related to system reliability, performance degradation, and security vulnerabilities. To ensure continuous support for Police, Fire, and other public safety agencies, Austin Technology Services proposes replacing the legacy storage platform with Pure Storage Evergreen One. This modern, storage-as-a-service solution provides enhanced performance, scalability, and security while reducing operational complexity and ensuring compliance with data retention and protection standards.

This is a new contract, and estimates are based on the data storage needs of the City’s public safety agencies.

The Texas Department of Information Resources is a cooperative purchasing association recognized under Texas procurement statutes. Cooperative associations, themselves or using a lead government, competitively solicit and award contracts that are eligible for use by other qualified state and local governments. Due to their substantial volumes, larger than any one government could achieve independently, cooperative contracts routinely include superior terms, conditions, and pricing. Use of cooperative contracts also results in lower administrative costs and time savings.

If this contract is not approved, law enforcement and emergency responders may lose access to vital case data or digital evidence.
