For More Information:
Direct questions regarding this Recommendation for Council Action to the Financial Services Department - Central Procurement at FSDCentralProcurementRCAs@austintexas.gov or 512-974-2500.
Additional Backup Information:
The contract will provide the SirsiDynix Symphony Integrated Library System (ILS) for the Austin Public Library (APL). Staff use this system for support in acquisitions of books, cataloging, database and service connections, circulation, billing, workflow, training, web presentation, archiving, social collaboration, reserves, and interlibrary loans. Additionally, the contract will allow APL to migrate from a locally hosted server to the cloud with the latest version of the ILS, and to make necessary changes to policies, configurations, and updates.
Sirsi Corporation d/b/a Sirsidynix owns the SirsiDynix Symphony ILS and is the sole provider of maintenance and support services for its proprietary software. Replacing the system would impact the services, processes, and products that are integrated with the current databases and applications. The contract is replacing a current contract with the same provider. The new contract will require additional funding to facilitate the migration to the cloud.
A delay in contract approval will impact APL’s services, processes, and products that are currently integrated with the databases and applications.
